Digital Photography School (dPS), my favorite go-to website for tips and tricks concerning digital photography, will be launching a new ebook this Wednesday. The ebook is the second installment of their very popular Photo Nuts series and follows on from Photo Nuts and Bolts. Like the first ebook, it is written by Neil Creek.
Where the first ebook explained the workings of the camera, how to control it and what that understanding means for improving your photos; the second ebook Photo Nuts and Shots “continues the learning process in photography, building on your knowledge of the camera, and turning its attention to helping you become a better photographer. This doesn’t just mean knowing how to expose or compose, but also how to think.”
Yours truly was given the opportunity to preview the ebook today via an email from the man himself Darren Rowse. And being an amateur photographer myself who is past the beginner stage, I can say that I have more use of this second ebook compared to the first one.
Like the book has pointed out in the introduction, photography is more than just technical skills. “Photography is also a way of thinking. It’s about understanding and appreciating art, as well as creating your own. It’s about feeling a mood, capturing it, and conveying it to your audience and even telling a story with the frame.”
If you are already comfortable working with the dials of you camera and lenses, and still looking for ways to improve your photos beyond mere technical knowledge, then I suggest you try this new ebook from dPS.
I have embedded a copy of the table of contents below plus some screenshots of pages. The ebook will be available by January 26 and I will post a link to where you can buy online as soon as I receive the information. The launch will come with a 25% discount for the first two weeks and first week buyers will be included in a draw to win a DSLR camera.
